Business context
A bike-rental business is busiest exactly when its software is least usable: a queue at the counter, bikes going out and coming back, a customer asking whether the tandem is free on Saturday. Cilea states that around 1,000 people use its sports-rental software daily — campsites, bike shops, fleet managers, and associations, several of whom take reservations online, at the counter, and across more than one site at the same time.
My responsibility
I work on this as part of Cilea's software team under a B2B contract, across both the backend services and the web and mobile front ends. It is my largest front-end footprint at Cilea.
Solution
Work spanning the length of a rental: reservation creation and modification, rental lists with quick status actions, promotional codes and pricing grids, return adjustments, and insurance integration. On the money side, invoice previews, discounts, client-balance exports with period bounds, average-basket and revenue statistics, and dashboard charts with filters. Rental vouchers and departure/return reminders go out by email on templates rebuilt to the CileaMoov design system. The React Native application gives counter staff reservation search, creation, and the same barcode scanner component the web panel uses, so the two do not drift apart. Throughout: internationalization and multi-currency, because a campsite on the border serves customers who do not share a language.
Results
In production with Cilea's rental customers. The daily-user figure above is Cilea's own published claim; I have not independently audited it and publish no other numbers.
Technology
A shared core package carries what every Cilea product needs — queues, mail, PDF generation, search — so the rental domain only holds rental logic. Elasticsearch backs the list and search screens that would otherwise scan large reservation histories on every keystroke.
